Program Overview

The Bachelor of Arts in Chicana and Chicano Studies places emphasis on critical thinking and research, promoting the greater understanding and awareness of Chicana/o community needs and circumstances. The curriculum examines the contributions of Chicano/as and other indigenous groups to the total development of the American Southwest or Greater Mexico. Students can enter careers working in minority affairs, public policy, immigration affairs, community organization, performing arts, bilingual and cross-cultural education, business, and other related fields.

GPA Requirements

Students must receive a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher for California residents (3.0 for non-California residents)

A-G Requirements

Students must complete all A-G college preparatory coursework with grades of C- or better. For Fall 2021 applicants, A-G coursework with a Pass/Credit taken during Winter/Spring/Summer 2020 will be considered to fulfill A-G requirements.

Students must graduate from high school or equivalent

  • Teaching Credential Student: Full-time = $7,863 (includes $1,203 in campus-based fees); Part-time = $5,067 (includes $1,203 in campus-based fees)

  • Nursing students pay a reduced Student Center fee of $43 for the fall and spring term. Nursing students do not pay a Health Services fee.
