Atelier Design

The Undergraduate in Atelier Design is a deep craft program designed to create a 360° garment professional. Students sharpen their skills and conceive dresses, tailored garments, streetwear and knitwear. Mastering techniques such as pattern making, draping, cutting & sewing, print design and embroidery—including a deep knowledge of raw materials and product development processes—is essential for every quality-driven brand, further demonstrating why this role is very sought-after in the job market today. This program encourages students to make things exactly as they would in an atelier. As each student’s technical ability rises from the first to the second year, a specialization is chosen among the many categories of fashion products (including men’s suiting and women’s underwear) so participants can develop their portfolios and execute their final project. Students receive a welcome kit with tools and materials to begin learning while also having access to expert guest lectures, an immense library, the computer labs and production machines. This course has an intense program of reviews, workshops, field trips and collaborations with companies organized throughout the two-year program and classes are held by teachers from the industry. Candidates with a secondary school (high school) diploma or equivalent are eligible and selected after the admission process. English language proficiency is required. Lessons take place from October to June and amount to a total of 700 contact hours. The course is completed with an internship in a fashion company at the end of the second year. Each academic year is worth 70 credits.
